What makes us Dazzle ?

I do not know if it is the "Rancho" effect but last couple of months have been a turmoil trying to make a mark and become more productive on the work front. Having exhausted and invested 100% in the current role, facing tough new challenges and rising to the top sounds like a great story :) There is, and there will always be the itch to accomplish more.  While acheiving this goal a majority of the folks somewhere leave behind the trait that once used to make them dazzle.
I am not sure if this perspective can be generalized but surely we all have a quality that stands apart from the rest. Still peer competition/ pressure makes us succumb and leave behind the 'one' thing that we could have been masters at. You soon realize that what you have been doing all this while is meaningless and soon the itch to re-gain the dazzling quality of yours comes back.
It was just yesterday at a friends party that I met people from different backgrounds and currently into quite different roles. Each one had their complaints and reasons to oblige that the work being done by their peers is far better. Do we ourselves fail to realize the worth ? Somewhere in all this there is a lost cause, a faint voice which keeps murmuring to get back and be the best. The fight between Me v/s Myself can only have one Winner.
If anyone of you ever get this feeling, do not let it die. Start fighting with it and you will soon realize that what once made you dazzle can be regained :) Get back to it like a Phoenix !

I level with you on the part about fighting with oneself. Where I differ is the point you made about the COMPLAINT that peers are doing better than us. I wish it is perceived from another angle.

Knowing our peer accomplishments should be motivation for us to do better and not something to get disheartened about. You are a clear example for me - your work ethic about giving your 100% gives me the energy to push myself further. This does not imply that I am competing with you, this is what I have learned from you and wish to make this skill a part of my life as well.

Any result that will come from the motivation to do better will result in making us Dazzle. If we believe this, it will show in due time.

Point taken Chetan :) Actually I should re-phrase the COMPLAINT part. Peers are not complainant about others doing better. They often do crib about others doing better roles than what they are doing.
This starts to reflect negatively. If they think that others are in a better role and they are also worthy of the same then they should wage an inner war and rise to the top :)

Very much true..You have echoed my feelings.After the party yesterday night i could hardly get a sleep( was able to sleep around 5AM).After all the discussion I was surrounded by negativity and inferiority complex but your post lit me up.Lets once again rise from the ASHES...

5th February 2010, close to 18 months since my last blog post. It would be unfair if I just directly start blogging without providing any “re-wind” of the 18 months. 18 months ago something changed in my life. The Tougher Right , or The Easier Wrong ?

I read this quotation somewhere. I guess it was inculcated to us during our tenure as NCC Cadets. " Oh God! We are at War !

I often believe that each one of us is an accumulation of multiple split personalities. Quite often one personality overshadows the others. I have a patriotic inclination from my very early childhood. Anything remotely targeted against India just enrages the Indian within me. At the other hand I am also totally supportive of world peace and harmony.
